Brandy Ho's, the popular Chinese eatery with strong roots in the Chinatown/North Beach neighborhood, closed its Castro location back in October. Now, we've got word of what might be moving into 4068 18th St., as all signs point to a restaurant and wine bar called Lark.

The new spot comes from Coskun Abik, chef/owner of Nob Hill Mediterranean restaurant and wine bar Dunya. According to public records, Abik has applied for a liquor license for the former Brandy Ho's location. While we haven't been able to get further details just yet, Lark partner Sertac Yildizhan confirmed to Hoodline that Abik was indeed a chef/partner in the new enterprise.

Dunya's five-year-old location at 1609 Polk St. offers a Mediterranean lunch and dinner menu featuring kebabs, meze platters, burgers and more, plus a brunch featuring a variety of omelets and panini. A substantial wine list sets the restaurant apart in its beverage offering, and the wine bar portion of the restaurant notably stays open until midnight.

While Lark is listed as a "New American" restaurant on Facebook, it seems likely there there will be a Mediterranean twist to the menu once Lark opens its doors. No word yet on when that might happen, but stay tuned for updates.

Meanwhile, Brandy Ho's continues to do brisk business in North Beach, where it's been attracting a steady stream of tourists and locals for 35 years.
