More than four months after a car rammed into the wall behind its register, The Animal House pet shop has completed renovations and is ready to celebrate.

It was a memorable Christmas Day last year when a driver, who reportedly suffered brake failure, swerved to avoid hitting a pedestrian and veered off the street and into the side of the pet store:

No one, including the driver and the store's resident cats Tiger and Pepper, was injured in the crash. The store reopened a few days later, albeit still damaged.

Owner Megan Johnson tells us that the car crash had a large impact on business, as it reduced the store's square footage — and corresponding inventory — while repairs were being made. But now, "we are back full force," Johnson says.

To celebrate, the store will be having a party tonight from 5pm to 8pm. The highlight will be a "huge" sale, with 50 percent off collars and leashes, up to 50 percent off dog beds, and 20 percent off all non-food and litter items.

Animal House opened in 2007, when Johnson took over the location formerly known as Healthwize For Pets. Since then, it's become a neighborhood destination for pet owners, including those looking for eye-catching Halloween costumes for their pets.
