Today: 'Wet Your Plants' Party At MINE In Hayes Valley

Today, a unique type of party is taking place in an unusual location. MINE, a combination menswear and vintage shop tucked away on Fell Street, is hosting an event this afternoon and evening entitled "Wet Your Plants."  The small store will be opening up its back patio, and is inviting the local community to come out and celebrate spring.

The party is described on the event page as a "plant exchange, balloon experiment, dance party, and networking event rolled into one," and it features a long list of interactive events, live music, food, and this unique promotional poster.

The jam-packed schedule of events for the day is as follows:

  • 12pm: Opening celebration, with a balloon experiment and barbecue kick-off
  • 3pm: Raffle and plant exchange
  • 5pm: Live music from Nathan Porter
  • 6pm: Guest DJs and live performances
  • 8pm: Projection, mural and fireworks
  • 10pm: After party

Co-organizing the entire shebang is The Polar Jungle, and other sponsors include Vintage Bazaar, which supplied all the mid-century furniture and fixtures for the outdoor areas (these will also be for sale during and after the event).

MINE opened up shop in the former Mixed Nuts storefront in January. We chatted with owner Chapin Atchison back in March, who told us his vision for the space included studio jam sessions, gallery openings, and a lounge vibe where people can stop by to read, listen to music and socialize. “I wanted to present a forum both of the work I create and the work of my talented friends in every medium—music, art, fashion, and books," he said. Today, he kicks off his vision of using the space for more than retail, and you're invited.

Find out more about the event on the party's Facebook page, or just swing by 227 Fell St. anytime between noon and 10pm today to check it out for yourself.
