First off, work on the Sunset Tunnel resumes this weekend, so shuttle buses will run between Ocean Beach and Church & Duboce through early Monday.

There's plenty to do within walking distance though, from free museums days to premier league soccer to a tea party with a wacky streak.

Saturday

Bank of America Free Day at the de Young

It’s Bank of America’s “Museums on Us” day Saturday, so if you're a BofA customer, flash your card for a free day of art and culture at the de Young Museum. Browse masterworks of African sculpture, check out Janet Delaney’s photos of 1970s-80s SoMa in flux, or take in their exhibit of early 20th century American abstraction, along with their permanent collections.

Spring Plant Sale Extravaganza

With all those savings, you may want to splurge on roses, orchids or succulents at the San Francisco Spring Plant Sale Extravaganza, held at the County Fair Building, adjacent to the entrance to the Botancial Gardens. A plethora of plant societies, including Begonia, Dahlia, Cactus and Rare Fruit will be displaying and selling their blossoms there between 9am and 5pm. Some will be there both Saturday and Sunday and some Saturday only, so be sure to check their website for a full list of vendors and their dates.

Kezar Triangle Workparty

Get neighborly and help spruce up the hood at the Kezar Triangle Community Garden Volunteer Workparty Saturday from 9am to noon. The SF Rec and Parks Department hosts this monthly event and provides light refreshments for you to nibble on while you garden. Come wearing close-toed shoes, long pants, and layers, and RSVP to recparkvolunteer [at] sfgov [dot] org.

Western Neighborhoods Project Bike Tour

Volunteers at the Western Neighborhoods Project gather photos and personal accounts about SF's outer neighborhoods and offer history walks, historic pub crawls, and today, a bike tour. Join Principle Landscape Architect Douglas Nelson as he leads a 4-5 mile tour of "the history and design of the wilder part of San Francisco's most iconic park." It's free for members (plus one guest) and $10 for non-members, and departs the Bison Paddock at 10am. An optional lunch at the Beach Chalet will follow.

Premier League Soccer at Kezar Stadium

Soccer returns to Kezar Stadium Saturday as SF City takes on Pleasanton Ballistic United at 4pm. From the sound of it, SF City may need your cheering: “The last time the two Clubs met, SF City relied on a come-from-behind effort and a last minute goal from midfielder George Plakorus to erase a 2-1 Pleasanton lead and take a 3-2 SF City victory. Pleasanton BUSC will be hungry for revenge as they return to Kezar to kick off NorCal Premier Summer League play.” Tickets are $5, and you can purchase them here.

Sunday

California Academy of Sciences Free Day

Free museum weekend continues Sunday over at the Cal Academy of Sciences. This weekend's part of their Quarterly Free Sundays, sponsored by Chase Bank, though no bank card's needed, and the museum's free for all. They recommend arriving early for this popular event. Dive into “Whales: Giants of the Deep,” catch the planetarium show “Habitat Earth,” and explore other mind-expanding exhibits.

Whitewear and Wacky Hats at the Secret Garden Tea House

Enjoy Sunday afternoon tea in your finest whites and your wackiest hat at the Secret Garden Tea House (721 Lincoln Way), where custom crocheter N Slim Goodies is hosting an All White Tea Party. A $26 ticket (or $15 for youth) gets you tea, sweets, fingerfoods, and a chance to win an N Slim Goodies gift pack. Festivities begin at noon.

Italian Opera in the Park

Watch the 133 year-old Golden Gate Park Band, led by conductor Michael Wirgler, show off their impressive musicianship and sight-reading skills at Sunday’s free concert in the park. Simi Cantori will join the band this week to perform Italian opera music. The music begins at 1pm at Spreckles Temple of Music.

Sports Nutrition and Fitness Event at Pharmaca

Over in Cole Valley, Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy is sponsoring a free sports nutrition and fitness event. Visit them on Cole St at Carl between 1pm and 5pm for a free chair massage, sports nutrition tips, free samples, big-savings coupons, and your chance to win a Fitbit Flex.

Any way you spend it, enjoy the weekend, Inner Sunset residents!
