In the arts, tonight's Friday Nights at the de Young, Janet Delaney, the photographer behind the South Of Market exhibition currently on display, will be giving a lecture on her work. The lecture is at 6 pm and is free of charge; admission to the exhibition, which will be open for viewing until 8:30, is standard price. There will also be cocktails available, and Delaney will be presenting two other, successive lectures the following Friday June 12th and Wednesday June 17th.

And stay tuned for the June 20th debut of the Turner exhibition, also at the de Young.

Not planning to make it Friday night? Bank of America cardholders also get into the de Young free of charge Saturday, June 6; and the California Academy of Sciences will be open free of charge on Sunday, the 7th from 11 am to 5 pm.

Also Saturday, June 6th is the volunteer work day at Kezar Triangle community garden, which gives neighbors a chance to help clean and spruce up the Kezar Triangle area. The work party is from 9 am to noon, with light refreshments provided.

There's also, of course, the weekly performance by the Golden Gate Park Band (which we profiled earlier this week), featuring Italian opera; the band will perform Sunday, June 7th at 1 pm in the music concourse.

Next Sunday June 14th, need we remind you, is the Haight Street Fair, which will entail a full street shutdown and an influx of visitors. More details on that to come.

And finally, but not least, check out the new mural on the side of the Tibetan Gift Corner on Haight and Belvedere, shown above.

Happy weekend, and enjoy.
