Another week has gone by in the Castro. In case you missed some of the stories we covered, here's a roundup of the latest in the neighborhood.

Earlier this week, we summarized a few of the recent crimes that went on in the neighborhood, along with more information on two people who recently passed away on the streets of the Castro.

In real estate news, Casa Luna plans to no longer accept reservations for stays under 30 days, in order to avoid having to register with the city.

Meanwhile, we sat down for a conversation with Ken Khoury, the owner of the Castro Coffee Company, which has been in the neighborhood for nearly 30 years.

Finally, catch up on all the transportation changes going on in the neighborhood, including pedestrian safety upgrades, new escalators at the Castro Muni station, and the announcement that Bay Area Bike Share will finally expand to the Castro sometime next year.

Double 30th Anniversary Feature

Spend your Friday evening at the Castro Theatre watching two classic films that just turned 30: Richard Donner's cult classic The Goonies, and Tim Burton's oddball favorite Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. (Castro Theatre, 429 Castro St.)

Saturday, August 22nd

The Klipptones: Live! In The Castro

12pm

Host Description: Swingin' tunes, a free dance lesson, and rainbow crosswalks. Saturday afternoons don't get much better than this. (Jane Warner Plaza)

CODE: Bringing Leather Back to the Castro

9pm-2am

The event, sponsored by Mr. S Leather, celebrates leather and accessories while offering go-go dancers and drink specials. (The Edge, 4149 18th St.)

Sunday, August 23rd

Perform For Live (P4L) Field Day

10am-1pm

P4L invites you to enjoy a day of fun at the park. Activities will include a warm-up, obstacle course, frisbee and soccer game, and a potluck. Snacks, drinks, and massages will also be available. (Dolores Park)

The Caribbean Allstars: Live! In The Castro

1pm

The Caribbean Allstars are the founding fathers of the Caribbean roots music scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their spirited soca, calypso, and reggae rhythms have made them local favorites for over thirty years.  (Jane Warner Plaza)

Flagging In The Park: Benefiting SF AIDS Foundation

1pm-4pm

Come enjoy the sun, music, flora, and friends in the beautiful National AIDS Memorial Grove. This event is open to all flow artists, including fanning, flagging, poi, staff, and hoopers, and their supporters. (National AIDS Memorial Grove, Nancy Pelosi Dr. & Bowling Green Dr.)

International "Go Topless" Day

2pm-5pm

From the organizer: "Celebrate and demand equal topless rights for all. Because really, why is it okay for men, but not for women to be topless wherever and whenever?" Note: this event may not happen; while toplessless is legal in SF, the event has not been permitted by the SF Recreation and Park Department. (Dolores Park)
