This week, the Upper Haight saw a host of infrastructure and construction projects hit their stride, from the Urban School expansion's parking change on Oak Street to the recommencement of pipeline replacement to the kickoff of Panhandle lighting improvements. To unwind from all that construction, here's a roundup of where to go in the neighborhood this weekend.

Live music options abound this weekend, including two free shows in Amoeba Music's "Revolutions" DJ series, which exhumes vinyl from the crates and gets it ready to spin. This afternoon at 5, DJ George Blenda will spin rap and hip-hop; tomorrow at 2 pm is Leader of the Pack, featuring soul and funk from the '50s through the '70s.

Over at Milk Bar, Spun Hippo is playing tonight at 7pm ($8), with Muncie, Trixie and the Skates, Pony Flight, Chief Enablers, and The Muted Jewel Tones. On Saturday at 8, it's The Shape, with The Thornton Melon Band, Chloe and the Giant Peach, Samvega, 100 Watt Mind, and The Road Vikings.

Second Act is hosting a singer-songwriter open mic night tonight at 7pm ($2, 21+), which will include wine and Magnolia beer for sale.

If you want to help keep the neighborhood looking good, plan on coming out to volunteer for the monthly Alvord Lake cleanup this Saturday from 9 am to noon. The Friends of Alvord Lake will be out in force for light gardening, upkeep, trash pickup and more.

Also on Saturday, Second Act is bringing back the Playa Place Popup Store, where Burning Man attendees can stock up on clothes, accessories and small playa bikes before the festival officially starts on August 30th.

On Sunday in Golden Gate Park (along JFK Drive, ending at Sharon Meadow), the Festival of the Chariots returns, with a parade, food, dancing, exhibits, and live music.

And finally, if you're planning into next week, the Red Vic will be hosting an open forum on real estate in San Francisco, hosted by Craig Young from Tidewater Capital. It runs on Tuesday from 8-10:30pm; be sure to RSVP

See you later, readers. Until then, play nice and stay safe.
