At about 7:30 am this morning, a San Francisco police officer riding a motorcycle was struck by a vehicle on Golden Gate at Leavenworth Street. The officer was riding eastbound on Golden Gate when the driver of the Volvo suddenly changed lanes, pushing the motorcycle into a parked car, said SFPD spokesman Albie Esparza.

While the collision is still under investigation, the driver of the Volvo is not under suspicion of drug or alcohol use but could receive a traffic infraction for an unsafe lane change.
This collision occurred about the same time as a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at Sixth and Stevenson, Albie said. While police are still working to obtain details on the victim's current condition in that incident, the pedestrian did sustain life-threatening injuries.
