Longtime local bartender Michael McCourt died Sept. 5th at age 79, according to an SFGate obituary. The brother of Frank McCourt, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Angela's Ashes, McCourt made his own name in the world of San Francisco saloons for his gift of storytelling and welcoming nature; a memorial will be forthcoming at Original Joe's, 601 Union St.
