
There was quite a commotion in the Upper Haight this morning, as emergency vehicles responded to a call on Downey Street, closing down a block of the street.
Four police with guns racing into my neighbor's house on Downey St. Not sure what's going on. Anyone know?
— Todd (@todd) September 18, 2015According to local residents on Facebook, as well as the Twitter account of the Examiner's Jonah Owen Lamb, the commotion was due to a man who'd barricaded himself inside a home at 180 Downey St.

— Jonah Owen Lamb (@jonahowenlamb) September 18, 2015Officers on the scene confirmed to us that they were responding to a man who had barricaded himself inside his home and was trying to harm himself.
As of 10:30am, the situation was resolved and the street was reopened. "We've got him now, and he's on his way to the hospital," one officer said.
