It's been another busy few days in Hayes Valley—but the week's not over yet. Here's a roundup of news we've covered, and some upcoming events to keep you busy this weekend.
This week, we noted some updates at KitTea in the form of yoga classes and mewvie nights. Coming up is a screening of Bell, Book and Candle, and a seminar titled Everything Cats Wish Humans Knew About How To Serve Them.
Canadian clothing retailer Oak + Fort opened its doors to the neighborhood on Tuesday, and plans to expand into the neighboring empty retail space next door.
And construction is moving along on Alchemy by Alta, the new housing development at 55 Laguna. 330 units will be available for rent, 50 of which will be offered below market rate.
In food news, Petit Crenn got a shoutout in the Chronicle this week, with a 3.5 star review from food critic Michael Bauer. Dominique Crenn's other restaurant, Atelier Crenn, maintained its two stars in Michelin's 2016 Guide.

The Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association (HVNA) will be hosting a meeting this evening, at 7pm in the Hayes Valley Playground Clubhouse (on Buchanan and Hayes streets). The meeting will address several aspects of the upcoming election, including two different presenters speaking about Prop F. Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi will also be in attendance, to speak about his upcoming bid for re-election (Mirkarimi was once also District 5 Supervisor).
Finally, several neighborhood updates will be given, particularly regarding the future of Parcel O (formerly the site of the Hayes Valley Farm) and 555 Fulton, with its mysterious, yet-to-be-announced grocery store.
Friday Oct. 23rd
On Friday night the second movie of PROXY's Fall Film Festival will be screened—Kumiko The Treasure Hunter. Kumiko lives in a Tokyo with her pet rabbit Bunzo. When she comes across a VHS of Fargo, she believes the hidden suitcase is real, and travels to Minnesota to find it.
The free screening will start at 7pm in the PROXY space next to Patricia's Green. Bring your own (low) chair or blanket, or buy one there to support future film events.
