Tonight, Second Act Marketplace (1727 Haight St.) will host four artists in an installment of its monthly Experimental Music Show—a chance for you to experience the aurally avant, cosmic and unusual.
The artists featured this month are Collin McKelvey, a San Francisco artist who also works under the monikers Orbless and Slaughtering Dolphins; Arachnid Arcade; Micah Danemeyer's "L1p_Ch3www3r," an industrial music-and-movement project; and Forbidden Colors, Enriquez Hernandez's experiment in "power electronics as ritual for the accumulation of sexual energy" that, as Second Act describes it, "takes your train full tilt off-the-rails. There’s no use in holding on, don’t bother shutting your eyes, adjusting your skirt or crossing your arms, take that headlong trip heart-first into the topsoil of voice, water, circuit fuzz or silence."

Jack Rix, co-owner of Second Act, said the Experimental Music Show was the genesis of James Decker, one of the founders of Resipiscent records, based in San Francisco.
When Decker pitched the event to Rix, he said, "We decided to try it, and it has definitely been our most successful ongoing music collaboration." He said highlights of the shows so far have included spider costumes and theremins.
"I guess what we like about it is the spirit of collaborative experimentation," Rix said. "It's always fun to look back and remember the '60s on the street, but it's equally fun to discover new artistic expressions. This music definitely pushes the envelope. "
The show runs from 7:45pm-10pm tonight, with a $5 cover.
