Today, we hear from Sunset editor Walter Thompson:

"The opening of Hometown Creamery was one of my favorite articles of 2015; the story was widely read and shared, which encouraged a lot of people to try it out early on. The first reviews on their Yelp page even referenced Hoodline! Additionally, Adar and Saadi Halil are genuinely excited to be doing something they love in their favorite neighborhood. I was very glad to run into them the day before they opened for business."

After a series of mysterious signs appeared in the window of the former Hotei Sushi at 1290 9th Ave., brothers Adar and Saadi Halil have dispelled the mystery and unveiled a new ice cream shop called Hometown Creamery. According to Adar, opening a business at 9th & Irving fulfilled a long-term aspiration.

"For the last five years, I've been working across the street over at Sunset Gym as a personal trainer, and I just love this neighborhood. Love it. This is our favorite part of San Francisco and it was just a dream to open up a business exactly on this street between these two intersections," said Adar, gesturing at pedestrians walking past.
