Homicide investigators are looking into the discovery of a body in a parked car yesterday afternoon near 3rd Avenue and Lincoln Way. According to a preliminary police report, at around 2:15pm, a passerby alerted police that someone was slumped over the steering wheel in a parked car.

According to the Medical Examiner's office, the victim was 33-year-old Ronald Hansen, a San Francisco resident. Police determined that Hansen died as a result of a gunshot wound, and are treating the matter as a homicide.

So far, there have been two confirmed homicides this year in Park District. On December 12th, two men were stabbed, one fatally, at the corner of Haight & Stanyan. In October, Audrey Carey, a Canadian tourist, was allegedly shot in Golden Gate Park by three suspects who are now awaiting trial. Multiple sources report that this newest death brings the citywide homicide tally to 52.

On a geographically related note, on Sunday at 12:36am, officers from Richmond Station responded to the scene of a shooting at an undisclosed location in Golden Gate Park. A 35-year-old man was transported to a hospital with an abdominal gunshot wound; police are seeking a male suspect aged 25-30 in the incident.
