The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a group of pro-development activists were unsuccessful in their bid for election to the board of the Sierra Club's San Francisco group, a subset of the San Francisco Bay chapter. Five longtime Sierra Club members won the open seats on the nine-person executive committee.
The local branch of the club has advocated against development in central locations. The election was a victory for those who saw the slate's move as an attempted takeover and redirection of the club. Check out our coverage in October for more backstory.
