This Thursday, December 17th, the Planning Commission will decide whether to issue a permit to KRINZE, a proposed medical cannabis dispensary for 2627 Taylor St. in Fisherman's Wharf.
The Fisherman's Wharf Community Benefit District has started a Change.org petition to oppose the dispensary, which has gotten 99 signatures. In the petition, they argue that "this will be the beginning of a corrosive effect on [the Wharf's] status as a family-friendly destination."
KRINZE owner and CEO Romwald Connolly has responded with his own petition disputing the "family-friendly" argument. "The fact is, medical marijuana actually helps families with members who are suffering from chronic pain or other illnesses ... I hope to serve residents in SF neighborhoods that do not have dispensaries." The petition has garnered more than 18,000 signatures, many from as far away as Brazil, Japan, Poland and Ukraine.
Thursday's meeting starts at noon, and will be held in room 400 at City Hall. The dispensary is the final planned item on the agenda.
