— San Francisco Police (@SFPD) December 23, 2015SFPD spokesman Officer Albie Esparza tells us that an officer riding a dirt bike northbound on Seventh Street as part of a motorcycle training group was struck by a Chrysler Town & Country that ran a red light heading westbound on Harrison. Esparza says that a group of tourists may have riding in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The officer, whom Esparza notes is a veteran sergeant with SFPD, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van was not injured.
Helicopters are circling overhead, and bus service is being rerouted, but the streets are beginning to reopen to traffic.
