Adding to the festivities for Super Bowl week here in the city, Bud Light plans to host a huge party in Union Square.
"Bud Light at Union Square" will open at 5pm Friday, Feb. 5th and close at 3:30pm Sunday, Feb. 7th.
The official beer of the NFL, Bud Light hosts events at every Super Bowl, and this one is no exception. It'll turn the square into "a haven built entirely for football fans," the company's public relations team tells us, and they encourage everyone age 21 and over to come wearing their team gear to celebrate the Super Bowl's 50th anniversary.
You'll be imbibing for a cause: 100 percent of the proceeds from Bud Light at Union Square will benefit United Way of the Bay Area’s poverty-fighting programs.
"At Bud Light at Union Square, fans will be able to drink ice cold Bud Light Super Bowl 50 bottles while indulging in grilled cheese creations inspired by NFL teams," according to information sent by Bud Light. "They’ll also help Bud Light donate over one million meals to San Francisco food banks and participate in a multitude of interactive football activities." (Update, 1/23: We learned that local favorites The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen will be serving the sandwiches):
@HoodlineSF we will be the featured vendor at the Bud Light Union Sq event. Serving 32 different grilled cheeses to represent 32 NFL teams

This is not an official Super Bowl Host Committee event, and we're told Anheuser-Busch is still working closely with the city and state to get all of the proper permits.
Entry to the party is free, but if you plan to attend, be advised: they'll still be charging for beer.
