Each week, we'll feature an especially interesting event in the neighborhood based on the event submissions we get, and what we hear about while we're out on the beat. If you want to be considered for next week, please submit your event here.
Get out your Spandex and get ready to stretch your body and mind: yogis of all ages and ability levels are invited to Yoga Journal LIVE! at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. Sponsored by the titular magazine, the four-day extravaganza at the foot of Market Street runs from tomorrow through Monday.
Though there's a charge for registration (starting at $80), the conference is also offering a long list of free events that are open to the public. They include morning meditations, a kids' and family class, nature flow, and Kundalini Sadhana. There are also classes for instructors, on topics from developing a playlist to statistics every yoga teacher should know.
There's even an "acro yoga and hooping demo hour," with San Francisco duo Zach Kimsey and Lindsay Foreman delivering an action-packed performance combining yoga, acrobatics and hoop dancing, while attendees sip wine. As for the conference's ticketed events, Hoodline readers can enter the promo code "HOODLINE" to get 15 percent off.
Here are more happenings in and near the FiDi and Union Square, from talks on salmon to a Super Bowl 50 community meeting.
