There are a couple of big events going on in Hayes Valley today, whether you're a lover of making art or want a say on the forthcoming grocery at 555 Fulton, which is being targeted by New Seasons Market.

First up, Hayes Valley Art Works, the group that is temporarily taking over Parcel O while plans for affordable housing work their way through the planning department, is holding a special event for creators in its empty lot today. Mary Teetor, a Hayes Valley artist, will be organizing volunteers to build a labyrinth from 1-3pm.

Teetor uses both mathematics and modules to design her complicated geometric labyrinths, which are normally manifested in needlework beaded jewelry. Today's event is free and open to everyone; just swing by Parcel O (at Fell and Laguna) to participate.

Tomorrow night marks the first Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association meeting of the year, to be held at the Hayes Valley Playground at Hayes and Buchanan at 7pm. The agenda is full of juicy news, with a particular focus on the New Seasons grocery that might move in to 555 Fulton St. If you've been jonesing for answers, now's your chance to meet New Seasons: a rep will be in attendance to answer any questions and receive feedback.

Later in the week, we've got plenty of opportunities to dance and imbibe. Here are a few more neighborhood events to keep your social calendars full:
