Daniel Bryan Thomas, the Daly City man who pleaded no contest to second-degree murder for the 2014 beating death of longtime girlfriend Ruby Gim, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison Wednesday. Gim—who managed senior programs at the Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center—was mourned by her many friends and supporters, who have also used the tragedy to spread awareness of domestic violence.
