A 51-year-old man was left in life-threatening but stable condition last night after he ran into the street at Fell & Clayton and was struck by a vehicle, according to police.

The incident occurred just north of the Panhandle at 8:35pm. The vehicle, a silver Toyota Prius driven by a 20-year-old man, was traveling along Fell Street "with the light," according to the police report, "when the victim ran into the street and collided with the vehicle, striking the hood and windshield." No arrest was made.

The Panhandle area has seen multiple vehicle/pedestrian collisions in recent memory, with pedestrians struck at Oak and Masonic in April and July of last year.
