Here are the recaps of major crimes in the FiDi, North Beach and other nearby neighborhoods from the past week, drawn from SFPD reports. We've heard that SFPD Central Station has been having some technical difficulties putting out the Captain's Newsletter, so hopefully we'll catch up with that next week.

Elderly man struck by car

A 56-year-old man driving a gray 2007 Toyota Corolla struck an 80-year-old male pedestrian at 2pm February 19th, while trying to avoid another vehicle. The collision happened at Pine and Leidesdorff streets in the FiDi. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening head trauma, and was taken to the hospital.

Mysterious midnight assault with steel pipe

A mysterious midnight assault happened on February 20th at an unknown location somewhere in the Central district. A 26-year-old man reported being hit on the head with a steel pipe by four male suspects, but he didn't recall anything further. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Man punched twice, sunglasses stolen

At 8pm February 21st, a man, 55, left a bar at Sutter and Kearny streets in the FiDi and walked to his car. He spoke to another man, 22, and then the man punched him in the face and stole his sunglasses. After that, a second man, 24, punched the victim in the face and both fled on foot. The victim suffered swelling to the face and refused transport to seek medical attention. He reported the incident when he returned home to the Richmond district.

Late-night parker gets purse snatched

A woman, 23, parked her car on the 100 block of Pfeiffer Street in North Beach at 1:10am February 22nd, and while walking home, heard footsteps from behind. She looked to see a man in his twenties running toward her. She crouched down and held her purse, but the suspect was able to rip it out of her hands. He fled on Pfeiffer to Stockton Street.

Thief nabs deliveries in broad daylight

At 11:05am February 22nd on the 200 block of Montgomery Street, a man, 60, was unloading delivery packages from his truck when another man, age 40–42, pushed him from behind, stole his packages, and then fled.

Man stabbed after arguing with another man's girlfriend

A 62-year-old man was arguing with the girlfriend of another man, estimated to be in his forties, on the 400 block of Powell Street in Union Square at 1:55pm February 23rd. The boyfriend walked up to the man doing the arguing and stabbed him in the back with a knife. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Thieves steal surveillance system, more from open garage

A "hot prowl" burglary occurred sometime between 6:30–7:45pm on February 25th, on the 1100 block of Taylor Street in Nob Hill. A man, 59, reported his son left the garage door open and went upstairs. When the man returned to the garage, he noticed several items missing, including a tablet, charging wires, a calculator and, ironically, a surveillance system.
