Hoodline doesn't yet officially cover the Marina/Cow Hollow, but from time to time, we may share important stories from the area. Want to help us expand to more neighborhoods? We're looking for writers (and yes, we pay!)

It's a sad day for Marina bargoers: nine months after a two-alarm fire broke out in the apartment above, destroying much of its space with smoke and water damage, Liverpool Lil's has announced that it won't be returning. The popular pub on the edge of the Presidio has been in business for 43 years, but according to a post on Facebook, "our landlord has refused to renew our lease."

The fire caused a major financial hit to Lil's, which posted back in August that it was struggling with "insurance companies, lawyers, and incredible expenses." The bar raised about $14,500 on GoFundMe last spring to help support its longtime employees, but that apparently wasn't enough to keep the doors open.

On Facebook, Lil's owners say that sister restaurant Brazen Head will remain open. "Thank you to the neighborhood, the generations of families and the city of San Francisco for allowing us to serve you for as long as we did. It certainly was our pleasure."
