This Sunday, the Chinatown YMCA kicks off its 38th annual Chinese New Year Run for the Kids, with a 5K and 10K run and walk celebrating the Year of the Monkey.
The race begins at 8am sharp on Grant Avenue at Sacramento Street; the course will lead runners up to North Point Street, over to the Embarcadero and then back to the finish line in Chinatown at Kearny and Sacramento streets.

Some roads in the area will be closed, and some Muni lines may experience delays during the race. If you plan to be in the neighborhood, check out the SFMTA Weekend Transit and Traffic Advisory page for details about which streets and lines will be affected.
Online registration for the run is closed, but you can still register in person today and tomorrow from 8am–7pm, as well an hour before the event on Sunday. Following the race, a festival will be held in Portsmouth Square, with awards given out for the best monkey-themed costume.
