Kathleen Caldwell has owned A Great Good Place for Books for ten years — a serendipitous inheritance. A young eight-years-old when she fell in love with books, she shared which character from a book she would like to meet and why.
“If I could meet any character, I think I’d want to meet Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web because I think she’s one of the wisest characters, and kindest, in literature. It was the book that made me realize I wanted to spend the rest of my life with books. So, it’s been a very important book to me,” said Caldwell.
The book resonated with Caldwell because of her upbringing in 4-H. She was familiar with selling animals at auction, something she used to do, similar to the little girl in the story, Fern. She could relate to a lot of themes presented in the story.
“I saw the power of words and that’s what that story really is — the power of friendship and the power of words. I knew that’s what I wanted to do, whether it was writing, reading or working in a bookstore. I knew I wanted to work with words,” she concluded.
