Shortly after 11pm on Friday evening, two pedestrians were seriously injured at the intersection of Franklin and Hayes streets. According to a police report, a silver Toyota Prius failed to yield to the two victims—a 70-year-old female and a 79-year-old male—as they crossed with a green light.

Both were transported to SF General Hospital. The female victim suffered life-threatening injuries, though an update on her condition was not available this morning.

The collision occurred after recent improvements were made to the intersection of Gough and Hayes, located one block away, in an effort to increase safety for pedestrians and visibility for drivers.
