We'll regularly feature an especially interesting event in the neighborhood based on the event submissions we get, and what we hear about while we're out on the beat. If you want to be considered, please submit your event here.
Rainy weather is in the weekend forecast, but there's plenty to keep you entertained, occupied, and maybe even muddy in Hayes Valley this week. In addition to a full lineup of events, the weekend marks the official launch party for Hayes Valley Art Works, the interim community activation of the Fell & Laguna vacant lot that's slated to eventually become affordable housing.
Starting at 1pm, Saturday's kid-friendly event will include live music, activities, special guests and ice cream, and will last until sundown. Meet and mingle with your neighbors, and "learn how you can get involved over the next year to bring art to the neighborhood." The party will take place rain or shine, so don't forget boots and umbrellas.
If you've got little ones in tow, you may want to come early for the kids "garden party play date" from 11am-12:30pm, which will include take-home projects for kids ages three and up.
Though Saturday's event is the official kickoff, this morning will see an opportunity to garden at the space. That, and more Hayes Valley events from this week, upcoming weekend, and next week, right here:
