It may be days until we see the sun again, but the Asian Art Museum, Tenderloin Museum, PianoFight, and many more venues across the neighborhood are ready to keep you dry and entertained all weekend and into next week. Here's a look at some of the highlights.

Community Day At The Asian Art Museum

First off, the Asian Art Museum is hosting a free community weekend in honor of its 50th anniversary.

The celebratory weekend kicks off tonight with a formal, gold-dipped gala at the museum — to which $20 tickets are still available. The free, family-friendly open house runs from 10am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Both days feature free tours of this season's exhibitions, cultural music and dance performances, opportunities to meet local artists and more.

Before you go, you'll want to read up on the museum's newly-announced expansion plans, which include constructing a massive “exhibition pavilion” and remodeling and reorganizing the existing lobby, classrooms and galleries.

And afterwards, don't forget to stroll down to the Old Mint, where a free San Francisco history fair will be in full-swing as well.

Willie Brown Talks Tenderloin History

Former Mayor Willie Brown is speaking at the Tenderloin Museum at 12pm this coming Monday, and there's still time to snag a seat. $20 tickets are still available to hear him and the museum's founder, Randy Shaw, chat about the neighborhood's evolution since he first stepped foot here in the 1960s.

Looking ahead, now's the time for job-seekers in need of extra support finding and landing a job in the area to consider joining Code Tenderloin. The nonprofit, which grew out of Del Seymour's famous walking tours, is currently seeking students for its third career development class.

Starting March 14th, 15 students will embark on a rigorous curriculum two days a week, covering everything from acing the interview to nailing office etiquette through one-on-one lessons, mock interviews, networking days at Mid-Market startups and more.

Neil Shah, the nonprofit's development and community engagement manager, also tells us that this will be the first class to take advantage of an online coding school that's being offered to students at no cost, courtesy of local programming school Hack Reactor.

Potential students can email [email protected] to learn more and sign up. Anyone interested in volunteering their expertise, gently used professional clothes, or funds should reach out as well. A major fundraising campaign is set to launch later this month.

Here's a few more events to keep you busy over the next week. Not seeing the event for you? We've got plenty more throughout the city at hoodline.com/events. Plus, you can always add your own any time using this form—you may even be included in a future roundup.
