The always colorful Upper Haight got a little more reserved today, as one of its vivid landmarks has been painted white.
The row of eye-catching Victorian houses on Central Ave. between Haight and Page streets is a tourist photo staple for Upper Haight explorers. However, the blue house in the lineup was sold this past December. Construction has been underway for months, with a tarp covering the facade for much of that period. Today, the tarp was taken down, revealing fresh coats of white and gray paint.
The change is drastic; here's a glimpse of the house during more vibrant times:
