A rollover crash last night on Eureka Street between Market and 18th brought neighbors out to help the vehicle's two occupants, who were not seriously injured.

At approximately 8:55pm last night, a Mercedes-Benz SUV sedan was traveling southbound towards 18th Street when the driver lost control and the vehicle crashed into a parked Mazda sedan, flipped over, and eventually landed on its side.

Inside the vehicle were two occupants, a female driver and a male passenger in the front seat.

Update: Commenter cbowns has the following intel:

Fire personnel said they turned onto Eureka St southbound from Market St, lost control, hit something (possibly a seam in the roadway's concrete on that section of road), and rolled the car. I asked them how common that was: they said when a car's center-of-balance is off, as it is in turns, they've seen even low-slung cars flipped over by hitting something as small as a 1" seam in the road.

Neighbors assisting before emergency personnel arrived.

Neighbors in the surrounding area, hearing the loud noise of the crash, quickly came out to assist the occupants of the vehicle and call 911.

Firefighters, ambulances and police officers arrived on scene within minutes and helped the occupants of the vehicle exit through the sunroof.  Both the driver and the passenger both appeared shaken up but not injured, and were transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

A witness, who was exiting her rideshare (an Uber) in the driveway of her residence on Eureka, told us that she heard a loud noise and saw the car flip. She stated that everything happened so quickly that it was hard to be certain exactly how the car flipped, but she believed the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed.
