Why wait until the weekend to take in all that the Inner Sunset has to offer? Today, take advantage of free admission to the Conservatory of Flowers, join a free gallery reception tomorrow, or attend one of the three in-store author events Green Apple Books on the Park is hosting tonight through Thursday.
Since the Inner Richmond-based bookstore expanded to the Inner Sunset nearly two years ago, the new location has become a locus for literary events south of the park. In addition to emerging talents, the store has hosted author events for established writers like John Waters, Joyce Carol Oates and Dave Eggers.
“The way we designed this store was to be able to open things up so we can have bigger authors come into town,” assistant manager Emily Ballaine told us back in February 2015. “It’s worked out really well for us, I feel like that’s more of the niche we have on this side of the park.”
Tonight, author Danielle Dutton will discuss Margaret the First in a conversation with bookseller Stephen Sparks. Tomorrow, Sarah Schulman will read from The Cosmopolitans, her modern take on "Cousin Bette," a Balzac novel. And on Thursday, writer-editor Rob Spillman will talk about All Tomorrow's Parties, a memoir of his life in pre- and post-Cold War Berlin.
Admission is free, all ages are welcome.
