Each week, we'll feature an especially interesting event in the neighborhood based on the event submissions we get, and what we hear about while we're out on the beat. If you want to be considered for next week, please submit your event here.

It's been seven years since Nerd Nite SF began running shows once a month at Rickshaw Stop, but their events still sell out on the regular. This month is no exception, with a lineup of talks on baseball analytics and e-cigarettes.

The evening will start off with a science history rap by Tom McFadden, alongside DNAquiries—a take on the traditional daiquiri, with a strawberry rum shot. If you're feeling peckish, CrossHatch Eatery will be serving up bao buns.

The evening's first talk is entitled "The Science, Joy, and Heartache of Baseball Analytics" by Tracy Altman, PhD. If you've ever wondered about the complicated world of sports analytics, Altman is here to help explain how big data can help regular people make better decisions.

If sports and data aren't your jam, stick around for a talk by C.A.B. Fredericks, who'll be addressing the big debates surrounding e-cigarettes, including whether or not they help cigarette users quit, and whether they're more or less harmful than their paper counterparts.

Finally, the SF Library will be doling out library cards and "the hottest branch gossip." As we mentioned above, these events do usually sell out, so grab your last-minute $8 tickets here.

Other events in the neighborhood this week include a biking workshop, TWO movie screenings at PROXY, and a fundraiser for the Bay Area Girls Rock Camp. And if you've got an event coming up, be sure to submit it to us for possible inclusion in an upcoming roundup.
