A downtown fast-food worker strike and protest is planned from 6am to about 8am tomorrow morning, starting at the McDonald's at 609 Market St. Over 200 people are expected to wind through the FiDi up to Front and Clay streets near Le Meridien (an ongoing source of contention for local unions), over to Montgomery Street, and ending at Market and Sansome streets.

Wake Up SF: Strike for $15 and Our Homes is part of a national Fight for $15 strike, which will happen in 300 cities tomorrow. Though San Francisco has already passed a law requiring a $15 minimum wage by 2018, with California as a whole reaching that benchmark by 2022, the protest also aims to draw attention to a host of non-wage issues faced by low-income workers, including displacement, police violence, threats to unionization, and more.
