Tablehopper has reported that the Ferry Building's farm-to-table fave Il Cane Rosso—known for its seasonal soups, fresh-picked salads, egg salad sandwiches, roasted meats and primo water views—has closed permanently, as of April 3rd. Chef-owner Lauren Kiino's SoMa spin-off restaurant, Red Dog (303 2nd St.) is also mysteriously muzzled for now. (Though Tablehopper says Red Dog's closure is temporary, the websites for both restaurants are offline.)

We reached out to Ferry Building management to ask what happened, but were told neither party could comment, due to a non-disclosure clause in the lease. We're sure the plum space in the building will be snapped up in no time, and we'll keep you posted when we hear what's moving in.
