A hectic scene unfolded at Haight and Masonic around 4pm this afternoon, as a shoplifter sustained injuries while being caught and arrested by the SFPD.

Christian Calinsky of Taking It to the Streets said he was able to nab the shoplifter, who he says was high or intoxicated, as he attempted to steal items from adjoining streetwear boutiques Pink+Dolphin Clothing and Cookies SF.

In the process of being arrested, the suspect was injured, and an officer on the scene said he was being transported to SF General Hospital for undisclosed injuries. Seven police cruisers and three fire trucks responded to the scene, and a witness tells Hoodline that the screaming suspect was restrained and transported out in a stretcher.

We've reached out to the SFPD and will update as we learn more.
