After our brief blast of summer, things are about to get rainy. This weekend sees a smorgasbord of outdoor and indoor events for Outer Sunset residents.
On Saturday, get involved with the community by joining Supervisor Katy Tang's office, which will be out planting at the new traffic median at Kirkham and Great Highway. You can also join your neighbors nearby at the Francis Scott Key Annex complex, where the last community work day for Playland at 43rd Avenue will be underway.
If you'd rather spend your weekend recovering from a busy week, Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center is offering a class on creating mantras in physical form with a yantra painting workshop.
Sunday also sees two fun outdoor events, starting with a 5K run in Golden Gate Park, hosted by the Dolphin South End Runners. If you're more likely to be running after your kids, the San Francisco Zoo has a weekend devoted to the upcoming release of the live-action Jungle Book movie. Bring your littles to meet Mowgli and Baloo—the zoo will be giving away screening passes for a Jungle Book showing at the Metreon.
