The Hearst Company, which owns the landmark Hearst Building on Market and Third streets, is expected to submit plans to the city in the coming weeks asking to convert the office building into a luxury hotel, according to a report on SFGate. "Hearst, which owns the San Francisco Chronicle, informed its tenants of the plan in a letter Tuesday," the article states.

A hotel rush is currently on in the city; SFGate also has reported that more than a dozen new hotels housing more than 4,000 rooms have been proposed in the past year. Hoodline has reported on several plans or preliminary plans, including eight in SoMa, two in the FiDi, one in North Beach and one on the former 8 Washington site.
