It might be a tad gloomy over the next couple of days, but it looks like the sun has plans to return just in time for the Friends of Boeddeker Park Earth Day celebration tomorrow. From 10am to 1:30pm, the park will be abuzz with Zumba, gardening workshops and a chance to dig in and help with planting herbs and veggies in the Celebration Garden.

If you'd rather spend the day getting creative indoors, we suggest stopping by the Crochet Jam at the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery in the War Memorial Building. In an effort to bring the neighborhood's diverse communities together, all are welcome to help crochet one giant tapestry. No previous experience necessary.

After a weekend full of sun and fun, you might be hungry. So from 5-10pm every Sunday evening, starting this week, Whitechapel is the newest place to eat a hearty homestyle meal. For $35, feast on prime rib, potatoes, sautéed spigarello and mushrooms, horseradish sauce and Yorkshire pudding.

Before we jump into even more upcoming events for the weekend at hand, a couple of important agenda items for next week.

On Wednesday, Rev. Cecil Williams, cofounder of Glide Memorial Church, will be honored in a celebration at the church. The event will include a screening of a long-lost television program featuring the reverend's work in the neighborhood, followed by a discussion with WilliamsJanice Mirikitani and former mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. on the history and future of radical acceptance in San Francisco.

And finally, we're heading into The Basement's final week at 222 Hyde St. The club won't dissolve for good—owner Larry Livingston says he's still on the hunt for a new space. In the meantime, help him and the crew bid farewell to their space with an April 30th blow-out. In an effort to clear the shelves, drinks will cost just two dollars each, and three of the venues' favorite DJs—including Roche of Run The Length of Your Wildness—will be playing back-to-back late into the night.

Here's what else is cooking for the week ahead. You can find more events from around the city at hoodline.com/events, where you can also submit an event to be included in an upcoming roundup.
