If your mind is already wandering to the weekend ahead, you're not alone. Here's a glance at the eclectic mix of events that'll keep the neighborhood busy over the next few days.
First, let's talk brunch. Standing in line for an hour on an empty stomach can be a drag ... and a thing of the past thanks to Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters. From 9-11:30am Saturday and Sunday, the local coffee company is opening the doors of its 12th and Folsom roastery for its first Brunch Pre-Game party. Krista Allvey and Kari Shaughnessy, pastry chefs formerly with Marla in the Outer Richmond, will be serving up sweet and savory toasts, each paired with a different coffee.
Fed up with San Francisco's many civic problems? Spend the weekend hacking a solution. On Saturday and Sunday, Code for San Francisco and CivicMakers are hosting a National Day Of Civic Hacking at Microsoft's Third and Folsom community space, with a broad goal of solving problems for local residents. The event will focus on developing solutions for local residents and include skill-building activities designed for civic hackers. But technical skills aren't required to participate.

Lastly, end the weekend with a bit of art and activism at the Queer-It-Yourself (QIY) Expo and Faire. The event—1-4pm Sunday at SOMarts—is hosted by the Creative Labor: Queer Visual Artists Working Group, a social justice organization made up of "Feminist, Queer, Trans and People of Color artists and thinkers." Free and open to the public, the exhibition and faire will feature the experimental works of more than 40 artists, as well as workshops and hands-on demos.
