First, a benevolent reminder to those of you who may have forgotten that this Sunday is Father's Day—cards and bottles of booze are available at your trusty neighborhood shops. And it looks like we've got some sunny park days in store.

So what's on the docket this weekend? Highlights include a full roster of music events, from Robotspeak's ongoing synth night Church of Super Serge, to The Show Ponies and The California Sons at Milk Bar, to a special Father's Day punk show, also at Milk Bar.

If you're looking for some literary outings in the week ahead, Booksmith is hosting both Chuck Klosterman (Wednesday the 22nd), for his new book But What If We're Wrong, and Emma Cline (Thursday the 23rd) for her Mansonesque novel of cults and California, The Girls. (Full disclosure: this reporter works there.)

In search of opportunities to get outside this summer? The San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers announced earlier this month that they'll be kicking off a seven-week training course for prospective volunteers on July 14. According to the conservatory:

Interested volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to attend the Conservatory’s annual seven-week training session this summer. The Conservatory is in need of volunteers who can commit to two shifts per month for a minimum of a year in either of the following categories: Jungle Guides and Docents.

The seven-week training program will be held at the Conservatory every Thursday from July 14th through August 25th, from 1-4pm. The $60 cost of the training program covers all mandatory training materials. Volunteers who complete the course have ongoing opportunities for education throughout the year including field trips to area gardens and enjoy insider perks like sneak previews of special exhibits, social activities, free passes, a gift store discount and more.

Interested volunteers should contact Erika Frank, Director of Volunteers and Education, at (415) 637-4326 or efrank [at] sfcof [dot]org.

Below is a roster of Upper Haight-focused events for the weekend and into the week ahead. If you're looking for more to do around the city, or want your event listed, check out our full events page at hoodline.com/events.
