New Bike-Only GGP 'Cut-Thru' Lets Cyclists Coast Across Lincoln WayPhotos: Walter Thompson/Hoodline

SFMTA has installed a brand-new bicycle shortcut at 7th Avenue and Lincoln Way that lets riders ride across the four-lane expressway.

Before the "cut-thru" existed, all vehicles (including bikes) had to turn right on Lincoln. Now, northbound riders on 7th Avenue can use a pocket lane to bypass drivers waiting to make the turn. Two bike-only paths now let riders pass through the concrete median, and signs and signals have been posted to accommodate cyclists.

The two-way shortcut lets riders pass through the median on Lincoln Way.

According to Muni, these bicycle-specific improvements are part of a citywide effort "to help make bicycling a more convenient way to get around." Earlier this year, SFMTA also installed wayfinding signs along popular Inner Sunset cycling paths.
