It's been another busy week in the Haight, with plenty of news and happenings, including a media focus on homelessness coverage from 78 individual news outlets, including yours truly. (Read on for links to the stories you may have missed.)

Sliding into your July 4th weekend, you've got options for live music and dancing. First is the current iteration of the de Young's Friday Nights series, which includes a dance-off tonight, in the central atrium, from 5-8:45pm.

There's also a full roster of events at Milk Bar, including a disco redux night headlining Pretty, Handome, tonight at 9pm ($10 door); and if you're looking ahead to next week, garage rock party Thee 4th Annual Dirty Down Shake Residency will camp out at Milk Bar both the nights of the 7th and 8th.

If you're looking to taste something new, Eater reports that Magnolia has debuted a brand-new food menu, including housemade sausage and charcuterie. (See the new menu here.)

Planning on seeing some fireworks? We recommend camping out at Buena Vista Park, Corona Heights (our favorite, but watch out for the poison oak!), or Twin Peaks for a regal vista. (Check out our guide from last year for more info on the Haight's best viewing spots.)

Next week, don't miss the Booksmith's monthly installment of Shipwreck, which this time around tackles smutty tales inspired by Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. (Heaven help you, Tom Hanks.)

Finally, we've got a quick a tally of this weekend's neighborhood events, leading into the next week. As always, find your full citywide roster and submit your own events for posting at hoodline.com/events.
