A 63-year-old woman was critically injured in an apartment fire early this morning. The fire occurred on the 200 block of Bay Street (between Powell and Stockton streets) in North Beach.

According to the SFPD, the fire was reported around 12:16am by a neighbor, who heard a fire alarm and contacted building security. When security arrived, they saw flames through the window, entered the apartment, and were able to pull the victim to safety.

The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition, and while there's still no information on what may have caused the fire, police say arson is not suspected.
