This week, a wide range of activities is taking place in the Inner Sunset. Green Apple Books on the Park will present two author events, San Francisco Women Artists is opening a new exhibit, and the San Francisco Gem and Mineral Society will hold its annual two-day sale at the County Fair Building over the weekend.

The 62nd annual SF Gem Show and Sale kicks off at 10am on Saturday, allowing rockhounds and newbies alike the chance to browse jewelry, precious stones, fossils and other geologic wonders from 30 dealers.
"We expect an array of amazing specimens, including rhodochrosite from Argentina, tourmaline and topaz from Brazil, imperial jasper from Mexico, and so much more as well," said show chair Ellen Nott in a statement.
The show runs on Saturday from 10am-6pm, and again the following day from 10 - 5. Admission is $10 for adults, and $8 for seniors and children.
Tonight, SFWA is hosting "Angles and Curves," its monthly gallery opening that presents a curated collection of themed work. Next month's theme? "Heavy Metal."
