With the closure of the restaurant space at Second Act, the imminent closure of Dollhouse Bettie, and a number of ongoing vacancies, retail trends in the Upper Haight haven't been positive of late. But there's a new bright spot: Redwood SF, which recently opened for business in the former Pink Lily space, at 1748 Haight St.

Redwood specializes in new and lightly-worn sneakers, T-shirts, and hoodies. The sneaker selection—mostly high-tops—includes a number of limited-edition and collectible items, though there are also sneakers and footwear available for everyday wear by non-enthusiasts.

The storefront, which has been vacant since last summer, is currently up and running with a minimalist layout. It's Redwood's first brick-and-mortar store: "[Before opening], we mostly used to sell online and at conventions," the employee on duty told us today.

Unlike most shoe shops on the street, Redwood SF will be offering trade-ins for its customers, so expect inventory to grow gradually as it starts to put down roots.
