With Outside Lands and the 2016 Olympics just around the corner, concentrating on the week at hand may be a bit of a challenge. So, let's just take a quick look at your options for the weekend ahead.
First off, if Outside Lands tickets eluded you this year, forget it. SoMa is ground-zero for post-partiers anyway. 1015 Folsom, Harlot, F8 and Verso are all getting in the game with [unofficial] shindigs.
For those who are making their way down to Golden Gate Park and don't think they're weekend wardrobes are festy enough just yet, the neighborhood's ping pong bar is here to help. Tomorrow evening, Rebecca Minkoff is transforming the VIP room at SPiN into a pop-up shop, and artists from 1AM Gallery will be on hand to turn your new jackets, purses or wallets into works of graffiti art. Morphic Salon is also setting up a hair-braiding station, and Home & Garden Girl is hosting a DIY flower crown workshop.
As for the Olympics opening ceremony this Friday evening, it's no surprise that SoMa StrEat Food Park is doing it big. Tito's Handmade Vodka is bringing its Airstream out to the park for fun, games and free samples from 11am-9pm. Plus, sangria and draft beer is just $3 from 4-7pm.
If you'd prefer an unobstructed view of the opening ceremony, head down to 11th Street's newly opened sports bar BuzzWorks. With 21 televisions and a 15-foot video wall, there's little chance you'll miss a second of all the drama and spectacle ... unless you get preoccupied by their 40 beers on tap, 120+ bottles to choose from or selection of vintage arcade games.
