It's been a busy week in the Upper Haight for retail turnover. Locals are still reeling from the announcement that Second Act is shuttering its food stalls, but in the mix of other weekend festivities, we recommend making a trek out to scope out some of the street's newest retail offerings: from Haight Street Bazar to Redwood SF sneakers, Om Indian Cuisine to Sunchild's Parlor.
The Dahlia Show, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, is worth a hike out from the 'hood. There will be flowers on display and bulbs for sale in celebration of San Francisco's official flower.
Saturday evening at Second Act is Nepotism Night, the recurring evening of comedy, film, and readings. The "Summer Of Love" edition this week will feature Jeff Desira, Alex Dolan, Howard Johnson, Jr., Rabbit Quinn, James Seigel, and Hiya Swanhuyser. (Tickets are $10-20 on a sliding scale.)
And anchoring an otherwise quiet week next week at Milk Bar is Comedy Night, the monthly event featuring "a distinctly San Franciscan night of comedy featuring the best comedians the Bay Area has to offer and usually a crowd member on acid. " (21+, free.)
Here's a full roster of the coming week's events in the Upper Haight. As always, check out citywide events and submit your own at hoodline.com/events.
