Do you live, work or spend quality time in a San Francisco neighborhood?

Is there a topic you want to explore or a story you'd like to see covered?

Can you write?

If you said yes to any or all of the above, we’d like to talk to you about writing for Hoodline.

There’s a lot of local news to report on, and not enough people doing it these days.

Covering your neighborhood can help connect the people around you, from informing your neighbors about transportation and safety issues, to giving them a heads-up about new businesses, to showcasing interesting local characters and history.

You can write as frequently (or infrequently) as you'd like. We pay on a per-post basis for neighborhood writers and a monthly stipend for neighborhood editors.

Since we began life as Haighteration in 2010, we've grown to reach thousands of people every day, across dozens of San Francisco neighborhoods. We've also built a team and technology to help you do great work. (You can learn more about us right here.)

If you're interested in writing for us, let us know a few details about yourself, your writing interests and what neighborhood(s) you'd like to cover here.

No professional writing experience is required: we'll help you with story ideas and editing. We're looking for folks with a healthy curiosity, who are able to tell a good story and manage the basics of meeting deadlines, replying to emails and taking constructive feedback.

Not interested in writing, but have a story you want to see covered on Hoodline? Reach out to us via our tipline, and we'll get back to you.
