With the advent of autumn, the sunshine has finally broken through to the Outer Sunset. Enjoy the sunny days by heading out to one of the many great events available this weekend.

Start things off on Friday night with Irish trumpet star Niall O'Sullivan's show "My Funny Valentine," featuring classical pieces, movie scores, and of course, jazz standards.

There will also be celebrations for the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival taking place this weekend. It first came about as a way for emperors to honor the harvest moon, which was believed to bring good harvests. While the main festival will be held in Chinatown, the Outer Sunset will be holding its own celebration with performances and treats on Irving Street. There will also be a Chinese calligraphy demonstration at Far Out Gallery on Sunday. So eat mooncakes and be merry!

On Sunday, Playland at 43rd Avenue and various city agencies will be hosting a Pollinator Fun Fair, an event celebrating "bees, butterflies, and all the other pollinators." Activities include a costume contest, plant sales, and a flower photo scavenger hunt.

Here are all the events coming up this week in the Outer Sunset. For more fun around the city, check out our full events calendar at hoodline.com/events. If you have an event you'd like to add to our calendar, you can submit it here for free.
